I. Purpose of This Policy

This Copyright & Intellectual Ownership Policy defines the rights, protections, and obligations surrounding all creative, written, visual, digital, and administrative materials produced by Hazleton Immigrant Advocacy Services Inc. (“HIAS Inc.”).
It establishes the organization’s exclusive claim to its own work and outlines how that work may be used, reproduced, distributed, or referenced by others.

This document is an original creation of HIAS Inc. and reflects our commitment to institutional independence, legal clarity, and responsible authorship.


II. Scope of Organizational Copyright

All content produced, commissioned, authored, or published by HIAS Inc. is protected as the organization’s intellectual property. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Written policies, governance statements, and institutional documents

  • Educational materials, guides, and informational resources

  • Website text, graphics, imagery, and digital layouts

  • Public communications, announcements, and internal directives

  • Program descriptions, community outreach materials, and training content

  • Any original work created for or on behalf of HIAS Inc.

Every item listed above is owned solely by HIAS Inc. unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.


III. Nature of the Rights Held by HIAS Inc.

HIAS Inc. holds full and exclusive rights over its intellectual creations. These rights include:

  • the right to reproduce the material,

  • the right to distribute or publish it,

  • the right to adapt, modify, or update it,

  • the right to determine how it is displayed,

  • the right to authorize or decline third-party use,

  • and the right to enforce ownership if content is copied or misrepresented.

These rights apply automatically upon creation, regardless of format or medium.


IV. Restrictions on External Use

No individual, organization, or entity may:

  • copy or reproduce HIAS Inc. materials,

  • publish or republish them in any medium,

  • modify or create derivative works based on them,

  • distribute or share them publicly,

  • use them for training, instruction, or commercial benefit,

  • store or archive them on third-party platforms,

without receiving prior written authorization from HIAS Inc.

Permission must be requested formally and will only be granted when consistent with the organization’s mission, interests, and legal obligations.


V. Protection Against Misrepresentation

HIAS Inc. prohibits the use of its materials in any manner that:

  • suggests affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship without approval,

  • misrepresents the origin of the content,

  • presents HIAS Inc. information as belonging to another party,

  • modifies original work in a way that changes its meaning, purpose, or intent,

  • or incorporates HIAS Inc. materials into external standards, programs, or publications.

Any such misuse will be addressed promptly, and corrective action will be taken.


VI. Content Integrity and Verification

To preserve originality and prevent unauthorized adoption of external material:

  1. All HIAS Inc. publications originate from internal authorship.

  2. No external templates, standards, copyrighted frameworks, or organizational models are used.

  3. All text undergoes internal review to confirm authorship and independence.

  4. Any accidental resemblance to third-party material is corrected immediately upon discovery.

HIAS Inc. produces its own language, structure, and conceptual approach for every document it publishes.


VII. Digital Presence and Online Ownership

This policy protects content displayed on the HIAS Inc. website and associated digital platforms.
Any reproduction of:

  • website text,

  • visual assets,

  • public documents,

  • downloadable materials,

  • or structural elements of our digital content

requires explicit written permission.

HIAS Inc. reserves the right to alter, update, or remove digital materials at any time.


VIII. Enforcement and Remedies

HIAS Inc. may pursue any appropriate remedy against unauthorized use of its content, including:

  • issuing formal notices,

  • requesting removal of unauthorized copies,

  • documenting incidents of misuse,

  • seeking corrective action,

  • or initiating steps to protect organizational rights.

The organization will enforce its intellectual ownership with professionalism, diligence, and respect for due process.


IX. Amendments to This Policy

HIAS Inc. may revise or expand this policy as needed to reflect:

  • organizational growth,

  • changes in operational practices,

  • evolving community needs,

  • or administrative updates.

All revisions will be dated and approved internally.


X. Statement of Originality

This policy is an original work authored specifically for Hazleton Immigrant Advocacy Services Inc.
It is:
